detroit up north
Detroit Up North is committed to bridging the gap between Detroit and the rest of Michigan through creative collaborations and experiences to build a more united state.
During the summer of 2012, a small but mighty group of Detroiters headed northeast to Huron County, Michigan, affectionately known by locals as “The Thumb”. More specifically, they landed in Port Austin, a small town at the very tip of the peninsula with a population of less than 1,000. What quickly became an annual event grew to become the entity Detroit Up North. The annual event series celebrates Michigan’s geography, talent, and Midwestern hospitality in cities all over the Mitten. The collaborative events, exchanges, and experiences give entrepreneurs and creatives an opportunity to form bonds, partnerships, and communication across counties and regions. Year round we celebrate and organically connect Michigan's array of talent in so many industries -- food and beverage, music, art, entrepreneurship, agriculture and more.
